Igneous is a project by a group of DigiPen students which is claimed to have face-melting powers. You are a totem, and the underground world you reside in is, uhh, kind of exploding. Luckily you have the power of… rolling, and jumping! Unluckily, this underground world is really, really exploding hard. Blocks and rocks are flying everywhere, and the ground is literally falling away underneath you. The gameplay is incredibly frantic, the graphics are incredibly beautiful, and the physics are entirely frightening. The game is unforgiving, and this can be frustrating, but the rush it gives you will indeed melt your face.

The creator of Crayon Physics Deluxe have a special sale going on where you decide what the game is worth! Want to give the developers of this great little game $50? Go ahead! Is your wallet still feeling thin from the holiday season? Give them only a few dollars. This game won the Seumas McNally Grand Prize at the Independent Games Festival in February 2008, so whatever you pay for it, it’ll be worth it.

For those who are not familiar with Crayon Physics Deluxe, there is a demo available, and the game is very similar as (but more comprehensive than) Magic Pen.

The sale lasts until January 15th, so I suggest you don’t wait and go buy Crayon Physics Deluxe right now, the developer deserves your money even if it’s just a penny.

Toribash is an experience in itself. YouTube is full of videos that can explain the game way better than I ever could, but the only way to really understand it is to play it. I could sum it up as “what if your karate chop action figure could do a lot more than just karate chop, and you had two of them and they were also acrobats and were fighting on the moon? Oh, and they bleed.” but that would still not do it justice. It’s a bit hard to get the hang of and it’s pretty much useless if you don’t have someone to play it with, but when the stars align so do knees and crotches to create CONTROLLABLE RAGDOLL MADNESS.

Play it, love it, then realize the next morning that you are still playing it.

Did I mention you can pull of your own head and kick it towards your opponent? Yeah, you totally can.

Stunt playground is like a cute little Stuntman, except free of course. Another showcase for the Newton Game Dynamics physics engine, stuntman allows you to choose from a variety of cars to drive and jump around with and, best of all, has a fully function level editor that will have you creating challenges for yourself and your friends in no time. Crashing cars is always fun (except in real life, of course!).

The Dismount games are the digital equivalent of a cat playing with a dead bird. The point is to watch your little ragdoll fall down a set of stairs, or crash against a wall sitting in a little truck. And just like the cat, you will have a lot of fun doing it. With everything being virtual, you can do it guilt free, right? Well, let’s just be glad the graphics aren’t particularly realistic. These games have been floating around the interspheres for a quite a while, but are still very enjoyable little toys.

I first discovered Phun in early 2008, and made some interesting videos with it that got a few thousand views each on YouTube… Those videos have long since been deleted, but now I’ve come to find out that development on Phun is still going strong, and so is the community. This means that I don’t really have to explain what Phun is to you, because you can just click here

Ok, I guess I still owe a small description. Phun is in essence a pretty standard physics sandbox. Make shapes, connect them with springs or ropes, smash them into each other, etc. I would personally recommend building a huge wall out of thousands of individual bricks and then smashing it with a catapult, but only if you have a pc that can handle it. What sets Phun apart from other 2d physics sandboxes is that 1: It can handle quite a lot of on screen action at once, and 2: Awesome fluid dynamics, with which I have managed to make some interesting water cannons. Also, over time so much has been added to this little piece of software that no other 2d physics toy can compare.

I must warn you before you download this, you will lose hours of your life.
